King’s Cup Report Gold Coast 8-9th June

Organised by NSW, this event was the first ever Australian national club competition. It was held in the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre at Southport and represented the first UWH games to be played in what will be the UWH World’s 2020 facility.

The event was heavily supported by QLD clubs which represented 8 of the 12 teams competing. Although BUWH did not put forward a team we were still well represented at the event with our players competing in teams in A grade, B grade and the Women’s potluck divisions.

Games were hard fought and the final standings placed QLD teams in bronze place for the A division, and in all 3 medal positions for the B division. Stand out teams were definitely the Victorious Secret’s who beat the odds as an all-female team competing in the mixed B division and ended the event with a silver medal. The pre-event training at Chandler by the Morayfield B team, also paid off as they came in with the bronze medal in the same division.

Special thanks go to Lisa Miller (who came along to support BUWH Paul Liepertz in the Morayfield B team) for volunteering on the scoring tables over both days.
